Coolough Church is named after the Saints; Peter and Paul, and is in the parish of Castlegar, County Galway. It is also one of three Churches in Castlegar.
This photograph is showing the front steps and main entrance.
Adjacent to the Church on the Galway city side, is their very own grotto.
Set in front of the Church is a plaque to commemorate the Millenium ( 2000 A.D.)
Below shows the grotto altar, which is neat and well maintained. Not unlike the grotto in Castlegar, this too is a man-made limestone and concave structure, to provide some shelter to it "residents".
A statue of Our Lady, on the right hand side of the main element.
The plaque below offer details; This Grotto was erected by the Parishioners and Fr. (Father) Brendan Moroney C.C. and blessed by Most Rev. (Reverend) Dr. Michael Browne, Bishop of Galway in 1945.
